Are you tired of power struggles and politicking in religion? It just keeps getting more complicated doesn’t it? But, politicking in the church is not new. The Apostle John wrote the 3rd Letter of John in the Bible, warning Christians about a man name Diotrephes (3rd John 1:9-11 ). His problem was when it came to the church he was a member of, he wanted his way instead of the Lord’s way. In fact, he even discredited the Apostle John, and kept others from receiving him. This just goes to show you the extremes which people will go to in order to get their way. They will reject sincere brethren, they will reject the teachings found in the New Testament, and they ultimately are rejecting Jesus. It has to be that way, if politics are going to determine the future of the church. But we must stand up against these self-serving souls. And even though religious politicians defend themselves endlessly, they must not be allowed to destroy the local church. You don't need to be embroiled in religious power struggles. You need to serve among Christians who confess that Jesus has "all power" (Matthew 28:18 ). |
