Are you tired of being run over by others who control your spiritual decisions, and even tell you what should make you happy? You should be tired of it! It’s hard to believe, but even well meaning religious folks don’t always tell us the truth, and sometimes what seems to solve their spiritual problems does not solve yours. The fact is, we won’t know if they’ve followed the right thing and if they’ve made the right decisions until we see them enter Heaven after the Lord’s final judgment. The only way we can have truth and eternal happiness is to believe and obey the New Testament of Jesus Christ. Jesus taught the truth while he lived on earth, yet he had to constantly warn sincere followers to reject the religious leaders of the day. Jesus warned "...of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.” (Matthew 16:6, 11-12 ) Further he called them “blind leaders the blind’, and warned, “if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” (Matthew 15:14 ). The only way for us to make the correct spiritual decisions, and to find true happiness is to follow God’s word. The Apostle Peter told sinners, “Save yourselves from this perverse generation.” (Acts 2:40 ) The Apostle Paul told Christians at Philippi to “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” (Philippians 2:12 ) This means we must read for ourselves and do for our selves what God says. We must stand our ground and let others know that only Jesus Christ controls us. When we quit letting others control us, and take charge of our own salvation and happiness in respect to what God says, then we'll have incomparable faith and joy. |
